Lee Almasy met Mahito in June of 2018, when bird was 29. The two of them quickly became obsessed with each other and would spend more and more time with each other as the months passed. During the events in Shibuya, Lee saved Mahito and the cursed spirit has been living with bird since. The two of them got married via forming a binding vow which bound their souls together. They have since discovered that Lee has a genetic anomaly, which resulted in their six children: Hanami, Jūgo, Eso, Kechizu, Vergil & Hiruhiko.

Reincarnated Lovers
In a past incarnation, Mahito and Lee were lovers but met a tragic end. While they have no memories of their past lives, their souls recognize each other and that's why they were immediately drawn to each other.

IRL Lore
Back in 2022, a friend listed a few characters from JJk that I might like and Mahito was one of the characters on that list. Just looking at him, I had felt something, and after reading his wiki page I was very interested. I then started watching the anime and seeing him in the first opening, licking blood off his fingers, really got me bad. By the time I got to episode 12 around 4 days later, it was official. Mahito has since become very important to me, and helped me get past certain trauma that I thought would plague me forever. He is also my only soulbond, and he participates in all of my interests with me. He is my sweet curse, my piranha, my soulmate, my wife, my everything.

Bleach AU: Experimental Studies
Mahito is an arrancar who falls in love with the soul reaper, Lee Aizen. After the Hueco Mundo arc, he lives with Lee and Mayuri. At first he is only Lee's lover, but he is attracted to Mayuri as well and eventually the three of them become a throuple and get married.

PSO2 AU
Mahito arrived on Halpha the same way as other meteorn, his pod landing in the Retem region. Lee is the one who discovers his pod and helps him out, taking him back to Retem City to speak with their leader, Naderah. While she advises him to go to Central City in the Aelio region, Mahito chooses to stay in Retem and is then assigned to work alongside Lee and Laplace. It soon becomes clear that the three of them all have feelings for each other, and Mahito becomes the couple’s lover. Together the three of them defeated Renus Retem, which had plagued the region for many years. Once the existence of the Starless and the truth about Halpha's fight against the DOLLS is revealed, Lee is nearly struck down by a Starless. Mahito saves bird, partially transforming into his true form in the process and revealing that he is actually a Starless himself. While the other residents become wary of Mahito due to the revelation that he is a Starless, Lee and Laplace still trust him and convince Naderah and the others to give him a chance.
