In-Universe Lore Lee was found and adopted by Sosuke Aizen's parents when bird was just a baby. They were a new recruit to the 12th Division when the Captain at the time, Kisuke Urahara, brought bird along with him to the Maggot's Nest. It is there where Lee first met Mayuri, and Kisuke recognized the interest both of them took in each other. With Mayuri joining 12th and both Lee and himself working at the newly established SRDI, Kisuke made it his mission to try and get the two together over the next 10 years. It wasn't until after Kisuke was banished that Mayuri and Lee finally became a couple. Lee worked closely with Mayuri the Nemuri Project, and was also put in charge of bird own department at the SRDI which focuses on studying Arrancar. After the events in Hueco Mundo, Mayuri gives Lee wings and a tail. Mahito, an Arrancar who fell in love with Lee, moves in with the two of them and over time the three become a throuple and get married shortly before the TYBW arc. Some time after the TYBW arc, Mayuri and Lee's son, Hibari, is born. |
